Technical approval is not the same as release in Germany

As a follow-up to my last post, I realized something important: Apple’s technical approval is a major milestone, but it does not automatically mean that the app is ready to be launched in Germany.

This is a point that is easy to overlook. Apple mainly checks technical and content-related criteria: security, privacy, app review guidelines, functionality, and user experience. That is important and necessary.

But a release in Germany is a second question. Regulatory requirements also matter here, including the Digital Services Act. The DSA is not an Apple review check; it is a European framework for transparency, responsibility, and digital services.

For me, that means an app can be technically solid and still not be fully ready for a real market launch. The difference between technical approval and actual availability is real.

I find that interesting because it shows that an app release is not just a technical event. It is also a product and governance issue. You do not need everything to be perfect immediately, but you should view the whole process more realistically.

I see this not as a problem, but as an important learning step. The app is on the right path. But the real market launch begins only when technology, compliance, and operational readiness fit together.

Update: The approval has since gone through. Read more in LeckerBierchen is now on the App Store in the EU.
